STANDARDS AND PROTOCOL
DO’s
- Scan the area before your investigation for bugs, working electrical items, level of dust in the air, moisture, smoke, light sources, and shiny objects. Take notes of these items.
- Take base readings with any meters before your investigation.
- Make sure that you clean all camera and video lenses before starting an investigation. A smudge or spot on the lens can look like an anomaly.
- Keep a cell phone near just in case of an emergency- but get away from any operating equipment before using one.
- If you have long hair – pin it back during an investigation. Even just one hair strand may look like a vortex in photos.
- Be Respectful!!!
- Let any ghosts know what you are there for and ask if they will let you photograph them.
- Take more than one photo before moving your body. They can be used for comparison for any possible evidence.
- Hold your breath when taking a picture in cold weather. Your breath can also look like ecto-fog.
- Make sure that your camera strap does not get in front of your camera while taking pictures. This may also give the false appearance of a vortex.
- Keep your fingers away from the camera lens at all times. A finger can look like a shadow ghost.
- If your camera has it, use your night settings when taking pictures in the evening and while inside of dark buildings.
- Try to rationalize anything that you experience. Look for a possible cause first before jumping to a conclusion.
DON’Ts
- Avoid taking pictures in bad weather. Any kind of moisture, fog, or even dew will show as false orbs. This holds true before and after a storm as well. Windy days will also negatively affect your photos.
- Absolutely no smoking when taking pictures as this may look like ecto-fog. This includes campfires.
- Never use any mind-altering substances before or during an investigation.
- Never go onto private property unless you have been given permission to do so.
- Never go on an investigation alone. For two reasons – Incase of an accident and so you will have a witness for any experiences.
- Don’t take pictures towards a reflective object if you can help it. If you do, make note of it at that time.
- Don’t take a picture toward a strong light source – make sure the light source is behind you.
- Never try to provoke a spirit or dare it to show itself. You may wish you hadn’t.
- Don’t show fear. Some negative spirits are said to feed off of fear and the good spirits will avoid you in respect of your feeling.
